Hundreds Gather in Norm Daniels Lobby Tues., May 29, 2012 to Honor Retiring Athletics Director John Biddiscombe

To honor John Biddiscombe, a member of Wesleyan's athletic staff since 1974 and the University's athletics director since 1988, who is retiring the end of June, 2012, hundreds of well-wishers gathered in the Coach Norm Daniels Lobby in the Freeman Athletic Center Tuesday, May 29.  Surrounded by friends, family and colleagues, Biddiscombe was praised by Wesleyan president Michael Roth, administrators Rob Rosenthal and Peter Patton, Middlesex Chamber of Commerce president Larry McHugh, and associate athletics directors Gale Lackey, Kate Mullen and Mike Whalen.  Whalen will succeed Biddiscombe as Wesleyan's AD beginning July 1.  Biddiscombe was presented with a special gift, a quilt composed of t-shirts from numerous Wesleyan athletic teams.
