
Competing in the Minuteman Invitational hosted by UMass Amherst Sat., April 14, Wesleyan gathered 43 team points with 20 of them coming from one event - the triple jump. Tommie Lark '12 (photo by SteveMcLaughlinPhotography.com) grabbed first place with his 47-8 1/2 effort while Chris Sailor '15 took third (45-7 1/4) and Alex Iwamoto '12 placed fifth (44-4). LaDarius Drew '15 had a pair of top-five finishes, taking third in the 100m (:11.26) and fifth in the 200m (:22.25). He also anchored the 4x100m relay to fifth place while Lark and Iwamoto were part of the quartet as well, along with Paulie Lowther '13. Austin Cotant '13 ran a 3:57.00 in the 1500m race to secure third place. Wesleyan's final points came from Sailor in the long jump as he took sixth (20-10 1/2).
Wesleyanplaced ninth among 13 teams in the Invitational with more than half the teams either Division I or Division II.
Ahead is the annual Little Three meet as Amherst and Williams will invade Middletown for the affair Sat., April 21.
