Cardinals Go 2-2 During Pioneer Valley Invite with Sweeps of Smith & St. Lawrence

With three Cardinals picking up three individual victories over the course of the Pioneer Valley Invitational, jointly hosted by Smith, Amherst and Mount Holyoke, Fri.-Sun., Jan. 14-16, Wesleyan posted a 2-2 mark.  Wesleyan swept Smith Saturday without losing a game, then did the same vs. St. Lawrence Sunday.  The team opened the Invitational with a hard-fought 6-3 setback to Franklin & Marshall while playing without usual #4 talent Tanesha Jackson 13.  Wesleyan also fell to Columbia on Sunday, 7-2.

Diana Edwards '14 (photo) was one of the three team members to log three triumphs over the weekend, two of those coming at #2 and one at #1.  Also winning three times in four matches was #7 Jenny Chu '11.  Meherazade Sumariwalla '12 was the only undefeated Cardinal as she went 3-0, twice at #9 and once at #8.  She was the lone squad member to post wins over both F&M and Columbia.

On Sat., Jan. 22, both the men's and women's squash teams went to New York City to play on the JP Morgan Tournament of Championscourts at Grand Central Station with former World #1 player Peter Nicol.  To see a complete release on the visit, click here.

Up next for the Cardinals are the Little Three matches at Amherst, Sat., Jan. 29.
