
In the opening meet of the 2010-11 indoor season, Wesleyan had three first-place efforts in the four-team affair Sat., Dec. 4 in Middletown, the Wesleyan Invitational I. Participating in the meet with Wesleyan was Conn. College, Medgar Evers and York (NY). Coming through with a title in the 400m dash by more than five seconds was Lia Monti '13 (middle photo) with a time of 1:04.41. Wesleyan's other two wins came in field events as Ashley Swan '13 (right side photo) won the weight throw with a toss of 36-3 3/4 and Sierra Livious '14 captured the shot put with a 33-0 3/4 effort. She also placed second in the 200m dash and joined Monti, Yatta Zoker '14 and Isabel Stern '14 for a second-place finish in the 4x400m relay.
The team was back in action Sat., Jan. 8 when a group of Cardinals headed to Army to take part in the Crowell Open. There, Monti was the top Cardinal finisher, placing fifth in the 400m (1:06.10). Also grabbing a top-eight placing was Isabel Stern '14 as she took seventh in the 60m hurdles (:10.09).
Next up for the team is another home event, the Wesleyan Invitational II Sat., Jan. 15.
