Despite a three-set victory by #1
player Jeff Legunn '13 (main photo), Wesleyan fell to NESCAC rival Bates
Sun., April 25, 8-1, to close out the 2009-10 campaign. Wesleyan
fashioned a final overall mark of 9-10 but went 1-8 against its tough
NESCAC cohorts. Five of the team's losses came against NECAC squads
ranked among the top-30 nationally including Bates (#29).
Legunn, with his win vs. Bates, was the only regular in the Cardinals'
lineup to produce a winning mark for the year. He went 10-7, all at #1,
as he proved to be quite formidable in his initial collegiate season.
Two other first-year players, Ravy Uong '13 (photo insert upper right)
and Michael Glen '13 (photo insert lower right) had solid starts to
their career as each went 8-9 in singles, Uong mostly at #3/#4 and Glen
at #6. The Cardinals' starting lineup featured five freshmen and one
sophomore.
Wesleyan began the year with an 8-2 mark vs. non-NESCAC opponents,
including a 5-0 fall season.
