Cardinals Have Point-Getters at N.E. Div. III Meet and ECAC Div. III Meet

Competing in the New England Division III Championships hosted by Bates Fri.-Sat., Feb. 19-20, Wesleyan picked up five teams points to rank 18th among 22 teams that garnered points during the event. The Cardinals had two place-takers, one a relay and one a distance runner.

Coming through with a fifth-place showing in a field of 14 squads was the distance medley relay of Justin Spring '10 (photo lower right), Chris Coleman '10 (photo upper right), Matt Katz '11 (photo lower left) and Avinash Sridhar '10 (photo upper left). The time for this quartet was 10:29:63. Also adding to the Cardinals' point total was 5k entry Bryan Marsh '13 (middle photo), who covered the distance in 15:35.61, good for eighth among 22 participants.

Just two events remain before the end of the regular season as elite qualifiers for the Cardinals will compete in the New England Open at B.U. the weekend of Fri.-Sat., Feb. 26-27 before the final meet, the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Smith March 5-6.

Once again the DMR led the way for the Cardinals at the latest regional affair, the New England Open. There the group improved its time by more than nine seconds to 10:20.42 in placing 13th overall and sixth among Division III squads.

At the ECAC Meet, Spring was the Cardinals' lone place-taker as he secured sixth in the mile with a season-best time of 4:20.98.

The next track action comes during the outdoor season which begins its campaign at the Jerry Gravel Classic at Westfield St. Sat, March 27.
