Cards Have Six Placewinners During Wesleyan Invitational Led by Long-Jump Winner Tommie Lark '11
Tommie Lark '11 (photo) captured the long jump title in a field of 23 entrants during the Wesleyan Invitational Sat., Dec. 1 in his first collegiate meet with a leap of 21-6 1/2. He was Wesleyan's top place-taker while also capturing eighth of 46 runners in the 200m. Wesleyan's other top-eight efforts came from Sam Grover '09 (4th) in the long jump, Dan Manuyag '10 in the 55m and a fifth- and sixth-place posting by a pair of 4x200m relay squads, the top one featuring Nolan Prunty '09, Jadeene Gabay '10, Sam Maritim '10 and Pu Nguyen '09. Wesleyan got back into action Sat., Jan. 12 at the Yale Invitational. There Lark again was the team's highlight as he placed fifth in the long jump (of 37 entrants) and seventh in the triple jump (of 20). He improved upon his initial collegiate effort with a 22-3 3/4 long jump at Yale. His triple jump was 44-9. The next outing for the squad will be the Brandeis Invitational slated for Sat., Jan. 19.
