Freshman-Ladened Cardinals Open 2009 Fall Season with Solid 7-2 Win vs. Manhattanville

With five freshman in the starting singles lineup after graduating five starting seniors, the Cardinals didn't let collegiate inexperience spoil an opportunity for a victory as Wesleyan swept the singles events and took one of three doubles affairs for a solid 7-2 win at home against Manhattanville Sun., Sept. 13.

Winning in both venues were newcomer John Parsons '13 (left in photo) and Michael Piderit '12 (right in photo), as they teamed for an 8-4 doubles win at #2 while both won in straight sets in singles, Piderit at #3 and Parsons at #4. Also taking two-set wins in their opening collegiate singles matches were Jeff Legunn '13 at #1, Ravy Oung '13 at #2 and Michael Glen '13 at #6. Alex Hirsch '13 needed three sets to defeat his Manhattanville rival.

Next up for the squad is a trip to Coast Guard Tues., Sept. 15.
