Alan Ashenfelter '09 (#12) received first-team all-NESCAC recognition for his outstanding play during the 2008 season. It was his second post-season honor from the NESCAC as he was selected as a second-team choice in 2007.
Ashenfelter was the glue in the Cardinals' midfield this year and despite coming up empty in the scoring department, the team co-captain helped Wesleyan come through with its eighth consecutive trip to the NESCAC tournament where the Cardinals lost on the road to eventual champion Amherst.
Over his four year, Ashenfelter collected four goals and six assists for 14 scoring points. He started for four seasons and played in 61 of a possible 66 games. He was part of the team for two trips to the NCAA Division III Championship (2005 and 2006) and one NESCAC title (2005).
In 2008, Wesleyan finished with a 5-8-2 overall record, 3-4-2 in NESCAC play, and was seeded seventh in the NESCAC tournament.
