Men's Hoops Uses Late Burst to Take Control at Bates En Route to 66-59 NESCAC Quarterfinal Victory

Mackey hit a key three-pointer with 4:23 left, breaking a 49-49 tie and putting Wesleyan ahead for good, 52-49. It stated a 10-2 Wesleyan run that spotted the Cardinals a 59-51 advantage with a minute to go. Harry Rafferty '17 sank a running layup to the left side to make it 54-51 before Mackey fed Joseph Kuo '17 for a big dunk that pushed the difference to 56-51. A steal by Mackey led to a fast-break layup by BJ Davis '16, and he drew a foul, converting the three-point pay for the 59-51 bulge. Bates got as close as forum 59-55, with :28 left, but Wesleyan canned seven of eight free throws over the last 26 ticks to seal the victory. Rafferty was 2-for-2, Edmonds went 3-for-4 and Tim Gallivan '15 added another 2-for-2 for Wesleyan's final points.
