Playing the first round at the par-72 Blackledge Country Club and the second at the par-72 Tallwood Country Club, both in Hebron, Conn., Wesleyan was one of three teams in the Trinity Invitational Sat. and Sun., Sept. 8-9. Dave Velardo '08 (photo by Jeff Gilarde) carded a 71-72-143 total to tie for top honors, then won with a birdie on the playoff hole to secure his position as medalist for the tournament. It was the lowest two-day total for Velardo in his Wesleyan career as his previous best total had been a 151 in the opening tournament of his Wesleyan career in 2004. Eli Wilson '09 was Wesleyan's number-two finisher with an 80-83-163 score. Trinity captured the event with a 618 total to Nichol's 619 and Wesleyan's 638. The Cardinals venture to Middlebury Sat. and Sun., Sept. 15-16 for the annual Duke Nelson Invitational.
