Laguna Hills High School

I grew up on the beaches of Southern California, however my reach went beyond the sand as I also strived for excellence throughout my schooling. In High School I graduated an AP Scholar with an IB Diploma, as well as a The Army's Scholar Athlete of the Year. I went from the sun of California to the snow of Connecticut where I learned that tank tops and sandals are not daily accessories, but I knew I wanted to come to the east coast. Wesleyan has so much to offer and instantly made me feel like I have found my new home. I stay active through Wesleyan's Football Team, I am also apart of Notably Sharp an a cappella group on campus, as well as many other social justice groups, such as Invisible Men, trying to bring to light the unbalanced scales of "equality". I think one of my favorite parts about Wesleyan is that faculty and students really take the time to get to know you, and sincerely ask the question, "How are you". Wesleyan has taught me to think differently and see the world in a new light.

I first visited Wesleyan of a suggestion from a family friend in Connecticut not expecting much, but what I found in Middletown instantly captured me. The collective small town feeling was one of the first things I noticed emanating off the campus. It reminded me of my own small high school where everyone knows everyone. The moment I stepped foot on Wesleyan I knew this was my new school, but while I was walking around on the tour I knew this was my new home. Wesleyan made it clear, I can attest now that I attend here, that there are so many opportunities to further your education as well as extracurricular activities. I barley find time for a quick video game, however I would not have it any other way. The energy that brought me to this campus is seen on the students walking around, running or sledding down foss, having collective conversations about gender, race, and other contentious topics; Wesleyan's campus creates such an open space on campus, that you can find out who you really are here.
