WHY I CHOSE WES:
I chose Wesleyan because I felt like I could really flourish as the unique, independent, go-get-em person I had been in high school. I loved Wesleyan's open curriculum, which meant I could take the classes I was truly interested in without getting stuck taking uninteresting required courses. I was (and still am) really excited to explore the diverse courses Wesleyan offers. On top of my courses, one of my first experiences with Wesleyan was the summer research poster session, in which undergraduate students who have stayed for the summer present their work. I knew I wanted to get involved in research while I was at college, and here were undergraduates who had their own amazing independent projects - a feature other liberal arts schools I had look at didn't have. This summer I'm in the same program! I had also considered myself a very unique person, and felt like I fit in really well with the unique Wesleyan students.

WHY I CHOSE TO BE A TOUR GUIDE:
I remember three summers ago, when I was touring Wesleyan for the first time, I had the best experience I had had on any of my campus tours. Other schools I had visited made me feel like tours were a burden to the students who were giving them, and that the students were merely following a script when describing the school. Wesleyan was the opposite. I felt connected to my tour guide; I walked alongside him and had a one-on-one conversation about campus life, what he was studying and why Wesleyan would be the right fit for me. He seemed to really love the school and spoke from the heart when he talked about various aspects of the campus. That one-on-one conversation is possibly why I fell in love with Wesleyan so quickly - I was able to see the school through a students eyes as this amazing place. I wanted to be tour guide so I could help other students discover just how amazing Wesleyan is.
