THESIS:

My thesis will explore the usage of parody and satire in protesting China’s Internet censorship and how modern youth have utilized the Internet not only to protest censorship and fight for free speech, but also to hold the government accountable. I will analyze how this discourse has potentially impacted China’s potential for liberalism.

ACTIVITIES:

I am actively involved with music on campus, having been in several musical productions, including Rent and Into The Woods. I have been a member of the Wesleyan Student Assembly for three years and of Wesleyan Mock Trial for two years. I have been very active in the Korean Student Association and the South Asian Studen tAssociation. I also have worked for the Wesleyan Annual Fund, as a tour guide, and as the co-editor for Resonance, the Asian studies journal on campus.
OUTSIDE
WESLEYAN:
I love to learn languages, having already studied seven. I spend a significant amount of time on music—mainly writing, recording, and editing my own songs. I enjoy writing—having worked as a contributing writer for The Hinduin India—and working on my own musical for the past eight months. In my spare time, I enjoy working on my music-centric blog, reading, singing, and just spending timew ith friends outdoors.
FAVORITE WESLEYAN EXPERIENCE:
Our production of Rent, outside on the South College fire escape. It was such an exhilarating experience, performing out in the open with my friends for a huge group of people. It was a a moment I’ll never forget.
AFTER
WESLEYAN:

I hope to work in marketing—particularly for the entertainment industry. Ultimately, I plan to go to law school and work in entertainment law.
