Sophie Mae Wallis

Sophie Wallis specializes in university-level writing pedagogy and peer tutoring models. Her research utilizes narrative methodologies and qualitative data collection to understand the writing process, the role of creativity in learning, and the relationship between identity and writing. Her work contributes to conversations about classroom and tutoring practices in order to enrich the learning experience for college-level students.

Sophie Wallis is a visiting instructor and director of the Writer's Room at Wesleyan. To join Welseyan for the semester, she has taken leave of her doctoral program at  the University of Connecticut where she has worked at the writing center and as a First-Year Writing instructor. Her research encompasses writing center work as well as creative writing in the classroom. She will defend her dissertation in January 2025.
