Alejandro Salinas-Albrecht
Alejandro Salinas-Albrecht is a filmmaker and director of photography. He holds a BA in Film Production from California State University, Northridge and an MFA in Cinematography from UCLA. His acclaimed body of work includes Heyday of the Insensitive Bastards (featuring James Franco, Natalie Portman, and Kristen Wiig), Love In Moreno Valley (featuring John Ennis), Killing Animals (written by James Franco), and Battle of the Jazz Guitarist (Winner 2015 Short of the Week Award for Best Documentary, Winner Best Documentary Short at Guanajuato International Film Festival, Winner Best Documentary Short at Traverse City Film Festival, and Winner Best Film Open Projector Night, Hammer Museum).
In teaching film production, he uses his technical background and varied filmmaking experiences around the world to engage students in examining the weight of what is seen and heard on a finished film. He aims to impart the reality of different types of production work and encourage students to find a way to keep their voice as a filmmaker and intent as a storyteller. With the help of readings and screenings, students will build a foundation for understanding the varied and important chapters in the relatively short history of the form.
Alejandro Salinas-Albrecht is a filmmaker and director of photography. He holds a BA in Film Production from California State University, Northridge and an MFA in Cinematography from UCLA. Alejandro was born and raised in Mexico City and attended a German international school where he developed his passion for photography at an early age. Since earning his degrees, he has worked on award-winning narrative and documentary film projects. His work has expanded to include music videos, interviews, and commercials. Alejandro has had the opportunity to work in multiple countries and connect with people and cultures from around the world. He is enthusiastic about bridging the film set and the classroom for students in a way that is practical, inspiring, and individualized.
