Cards Overcome Scoring Drought but Late Midd Goal Dashes Victory Hopes in 3-2 Setback - Season Ends in 8th One-Goal Loss, 2-1 vs. Conn

After going scoreless for four straight games, the Cardinals got out of their doldrum at Middlebury Sat., Oct. 25 as Wesleyan scored twice to hold a 2-1 lead with 25 minutes left in the game. But the goals by Sarah Sylla '17 (#19, left side photo) and Marisa Yang '16 (#1, right side photo) weren't quite enough to push the squad to victory as the Panthers tied the count just 34 seconds after Yang's penalty kick at 65:08 spotted Wesleyan the lead, and a Panther marker with just 2:35 left proved to be the deciding goal in the 3-2 Middlebury win. Yang netted her second PK of the season, and third goal overall, scoring on a hard shot to the right side of the net after a Middlebury foul in the penalty area. Wesleyan had taken a 1-0 lead in the first half when a cross by Maddy Keane '16 from the right side found its way to Sylla for a tap in at the left post 21:11 into the contest. It was the second goal of the season for Sylla. Middlebury tied the game in the 33rd minute as the teams went into intermission deadlocked at 1-1.
