Nolan Daley '16 Gathers 46 Saves as Men's Ice Hockey Ties Williams, 0-0 in Overtime

Making a career-high 46 saves for the Cardinals in his seventh career start, Nolan Daley '16 (#30, photo) lowered his goals-against average to 2.36 while improving his saves percentage to .930 for the season as he blanked Little Three rival Williams on the road for 65 minutes Sat., Feb. 2.  Wesleyan also was kept off the board after attempting 26 shots as the Cardinals and Ephs skated to the first scoreless tie in their 50-game series.  It was the first time Wesleyan has held Williams off the board while Williams blanked Wesleyan for the fourth time.

Coming up with double-digit saves in each period, including 17 in the opening 20 minutes, Daley was on his game in raising his seasonal record to 4-1-2.  Despite the 20-shot difference between the two squads over the course of the game, Wesleyan outshot its host over the final 25 minutes, 15-14, including a 7-2 margin during overtime as the Cardinals mounted several good threats on the Eph goal.

Williams took the season series, 1-0-1, by virtue of a 2-1 win in Middletown in January.  Wesleyan finished 0-3-1 in Little Three play.  Williams is 2-0-1 while Amherst stands 2-1 thus far.  Amherst and Williams will decide the Little Three corwn when they meet for the second time Feb. 15.

Wesleyan is back in action Fri., Feb. 8, hosting NESCAC leader Bowdoin, which brings a lofty 17-2-1 overall record a 11-2-1 NESCAC mark into the contest.  Wesleyan accounted for one of Bowdoin's losses, taking a 6-5 overtime triumph in Maine last month as Keith Buehler '13 had a six-point game with a hat trick, including the winner in the extra frame.
