Jay Matthews '16 Makes Instant Winner of Men's Ice Hockey over Colby with OT Goal but Team Less Fortunate vs. Bowdoin & Trinity

Avenging a 5-2 loss at Colby Jan. 16, part of Wesleyan's devastating 14-game losing streak this season, the Cardinals got a game-winning goal from Jay Matthews '16 (#12, photo) with 1:52 left in overtime, lifting Wesleyan to a 2-1 victory over Colby Fri., Feb. 13 in a NESCAC matchup. Wesleyan continues its NESCAC weekend Sat., Feb. 14 by entertaining Bowdoin in a game to be webcast. With James Kline '17, who netted Wesleyan's opening goal at 19:10 of the first period assisted by Matthews, gaining possession of the puck in center ice during overtime, his pass sprung Matthews for a one-on-one situation with the Colby keeper. Matthews skated in a slipped a wrist shot low to the glove side to give the Cardinals the instant win with his eighth goal of the season.
