Hard-Luck Cardinals Rally from 2-0 Deficit at Hamilton for 3-2 Lead but Can't Hold on in 5-3 Loss- Also Succumb at Amherst

After falling behind by a 2-0 count in the second period, the Cardinals netted three straight goals between the second and third periods, the last coming unassisted off the stick of Cole Morrissette '17 (#22, photo), his fourth of the year, to spot Wesleyan a 3-2 margin at 5:47 of the final stanza. But a pair of Hamilton power-play goals just 2:29 apart gave the Continentals the lead for good at the midway point of the frame and an empty-net goal in the final minute sealed Wesleyan's fate in the 5-3 NESCAC setback Fri, Jan. 30. It was the third straight game Wesleyan has pulled its goalie looking to tighten the score, only to come up further behind due to an empty-net marker. Against Hamilton, Nolan Daley '16 was kept busy, making 43 saves as the Continentals mounted a 48-shot attack. Three of the four goals he surrendered came on the power play. Wesleyan had 26 shots on net.
